NARRATIVE BY VICENTE RUBIO
Vicente Rubio Costa, known as Pity, develops a body of work that occupies the territory where painting ceases to represent and begins to reveal. Linked to the Valencian art scene, his language is built upon gesture, the tension of color, and a plastic intuition that shuns the predictable.
His painting does not seek to describe, but rather to provoke an experience. Each composition acts as an energy field where layers, strokes, and contrasts generate an open, intimate, and, at the same time, profoundly contemporary reading. There is a desire in his work to liberate form, to allow the painting process to be visible, almost physical.
Far from the decorative, Pity presents pieces that function as presences: works that transform the space they inhabit and demand an active gaze. His language connects with a European abstract tradition, but expresses itself with its own voice, direct and emotional.
In the context of a private collection, his work is perceived as a deliberate choice:
a commitment to authenticity, the energy of gesture, and painting understood as a living act.
BIOGRAPHY BY VICENTE RUBIO
Vicente Rubio Costa, known as Pity, is a contemporary Spanish painter associated with the Valencian art scene. His career has developed independently, building his own unique language centered on painting as a direct and emotional means of expression.
From the beginning, Pity has shown an inclination towards abstraction, exploring gesture, material, and color as fundamental elements of his work. His creative process is characterized by an intuitive approach, where composition arises from the interplay between impulse and control, generating pieces with a strong visual presence.
Throughout his artistic journey, he has participated in local circuits and exhibition spaces linked to the contemporary art scene, consolidating a coherent and recognizable body of work within a more intimate and selective context. His work is primarily geared towards private collections, where it stands out for its ability to convey intensity and authenticity.
Currently, he continues to develop his work from Valencia, delving deeper into a pictorial style that champions painting as an experience, a gesture, and a language of its own within contemporary art.
