Artist Biography:

Boris Shoshensky, whose grandfather and uncle were prominent painters in Kharkiv, Ukraine, entered the Repin Art School for Gifted Children at the age of 12, where he received a traditional education in drawing, painting, and composition.

After obtaining an equivalent to a Master's degree in Education, Arts, and Sciences from the Kharkiv University and Art Institute, Shoshensky learned to respect the two-dimensionality of the painted surface through Russian icons, the importance of color as a model through Cézanne, the power of color through Fauvism, and the liberation of form through Cubism and Russian Constructivism. Since arriving in the United States, with its atmosphere of free expression, Shoshensky's work has shown a range of new directions. His paintings are found in numerous prestigious art collections in the United States and Europe.
